The Farnum Handbag is a hand-made authentic reproduction of the classic Nantucket lightship basket, signed on the solid hardwood base and retaining its original interior label from Tropical Enterprises Inc. of Naples, Florida. The lidded purse features tight rattan weaving over an oval hardwood base, a gracefully arched bentwood handle with bone or faux-bone pivot buttons, and a toggle-and-loop closure made from cord and carved faux-bone hardware. The crowning glory is the oval Ivoryite synthetic scrimshaw plaque set into the hardwood lid, depicting a bustling 19th-century harbor scene complete with tall ships, a wharf, and strolling figures in period dress. Measuring approximately 9 inches wide and 11 inches tall to the top of the handle, this is a collectible conversation piece that bridges New England maritime heritage with vintage American craftsmanship.

4. ABANDONED ITEMS: Items not picked up without prior Auctioneer approval may be considered abandoned and resold, donated, or disposed of without refund.

5. WE ARE NOT MOVERS: Bring adequate help, tools, packing materials, and transportation. Loading assistance may be available for an additional fee.

6. BUYER’S PREMIUM & TAX: A 12% Buyer’s Premium and applicable sales tax will be added to all purchases.

8. EXTENDED BIDDING: Bids placed near closing automatically extend the lot by 3 minutes until bidding stops.
