Up for auction is a gorgeous vintage L.E. Smith Glass Company Turtle Fairy Lamp. Produced in the 1960s to 1970s, this iconic piece of Mid-Century American art glass features a striking two-piece figural design that doubles as a votive light or tea candle holder. The complete piece measures approximately 6.5 inches long by 2.5 inches high.

The highlight of this piece is the rich Amberina glass top shell, which showcases L.E. Smith's famous fiery color gradient transitioning from a deep ruby red at the top to a warm golden amber along the lower rim. When illuminated by a tea light or LED candle placed inside, the textured turtle-shell pattern casts a stunning ambient glow. Additionally, due to the trace cadmium content used in Smith's vintage Amberina glass formulas, the shell illuminates brightly with a signature orange-yellow glow under a blacklight/UV light.

The base is pressed from solid clear glass, intricately molded to form the detailed head, feet, and tail of the turtle. The recessed reservoir in the back holds the top shell securely in place while allowing plenty of room for a candle to cast light upwards through the translucent, fiery shell.
