Up for grabs is an absolutely stunning large-format sterling silver flatware collection housed in a handsome mahogany chest with a pull-out drawer and dark velvet lining that sets off the silver beautifully. The set includes multiple patterns with hallmarks reading STERLING PAT. 1891 and STERLING PAT. 1895, featuring the classic beaded edge and shell motif handles synonymous with Victorian-era American silversmithing at its finest. The blue retailer label visible on the knife handles references a Chicago silver merchant, and maker marks including an anchor and other hallmarks are consistent with top-tier American silver manufacturers of the late 19th century. This is the kind of set that gets handed down for generations and starts arguments at estate sales.
