Why did the auction time get extended?

Our auctions use the popcorn bidding method. If someone places a bid as the time is about to expire, the auction will be extended by 3 minutes to allow for others interested in the item to place their next bid. Time extensions are capped at 2 hours.

*If you are watching the time expire from the items page (grid or list view), refresh the web page once time expires to see if the times have been extended due to sniper bids.

If a snipe bid is placed, the “Time Left” icon will adjust to reflect the correct amount of time remaining in the auction. The “end time” icon will not reflect the extended time unless the page is refreshed.
