This historic Currier & Ives reproduction depicts the famed 1870 steamboat race between the Robert E. Lee and the Natchez, capturing both vessels at full steam as they push upriver from New Orleans to St. Louis. The composition emphasizes the power and grandeur of the paddlewheelers, with billowing smoke, flags snapping in the wind, and finely rendered architectural detailing across both decks. Typography beneath the image provides timing, narrative context, and historical notes, adding educational and documentary value. The print is housed in a classic gold-tone frame with a neutral mat that keeps focus on the richly detailed illustration.
